ON THE WINGS OF A MARIPOSA
By Alvaro Saar Rios

First Stage Children's Theater

Milwaukee, WI | Fall 2019

The play, written by First Stage playwright in residence Alvaro Saar Rios and adapted from Barbara Joosse’s book “Ghost Wings, tells the story of a 10-year-old girl who loses her grandmother and has to learn to deal with her loss and to cultivate and treasure memories of her beloved grandmother.

It’s not a play anyone has seen before, as it’s a world premiere. It’s neither in English nor Spanish, as it’s a bilingual blend of the two languages. It’s not an adult or children’s play, but instead a touching story about grief and remembrance that speaks to all ages. (Milwaukee Journal Sentinel)
