"Don't let the world distract you
from the fact you
are the shit
Don't let the world define you
You design you
K, that's it."
-Lin Manuel Miranda
JAZMIN AURORA MEDINA is a queer Chicana costume designer that works throughout Wisconsin and Illinois. She also has experience in costume managing, wardrobe, and as a wig & make-up artist. Jazmin received a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Wisconsin-Parkside in 2017; she studied theatre arts with a focus in costume design and wardrobe. She is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Fine Arts at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee with a focus in Digital Studio Practice, Fibers and Community Arts.
Jazmin was most recently awarded 'Best Costume Design' for her show Double Vision at the Chicago Musical Theatre Festival in February 2020. She also has had the honor of being selected as one of thirty-four young emerging designers representing the United States in the 2019 Prague Quadrennial. Her selection was based on her costume design for Eurydice at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee at Waukesha and was chosen out of 300 designer applicants.
When she's not in the theater, Jazmin is a fashionista who lives for color, glitter, and binging The Office for the 1000th time. You can catch her at the nearest art museum or jamming out to BTS at top volume in her car---or in a daydream about traveling the world! She's also a Libra, Slytherin, and Team Instinct. :)
Jazmin wouldn't be here without the support of her incredible family, friends and community, and would like to honor them through her work. She couldn't be more grateful for all the people she has been able to work with until this very moment--and she can't wait to see what the future has in store. Maybe it might be you?
Thanks so much for stopping by!
